More Pictures

Here are all the pictures I've been meaning to put up for a while now, all from Tucson.  Some are the ones from my phone and others were taken by one of the girls dads.  Sorry that some of them are out of order - I got tired of arranging them.  Enjoy!

Tucson, Arizona 2011

Hello!  It's been a while.
Since we last talked, I went home for an afternoon, flew to Dallas and then Tucson, played 10 softball games, went home for another afternoon, and then returned to school.  Spring break was a total whirlwind!
I'm going to let the pictures do most of the talking in this post, since there are a ton of them.  Here's a brief written recap of the past week:
- Dickinson Softball played 10 games total last week and we finished 5-5.  We played Central Iowa, Denison (OH), Rutgers-Newark (NJ), SUNY-Oneonta, Anoka-Ramsey (MN), Staten Island, Schreiner (TX), Augsburg (MN), Marian (WI), and Husson (ME).  Quite the mix of teams!
- I didn't play much, but I did get 2 hits, got hit by the ball and caught a few balls when I did play.  I played both right and left field.
- I may or may not have knocked down the fence trying to catch a ball.
- On our day off, my mom, Chelsea (a fellow freshman) her mom and I hiked in Sabino Canyon.
- Most importantly, I got tan!

On our last night we all went to dinner at a steakhouse called Pinnacle Peak.  It was in a mock old western town, hence the wagon.

but Happy 15th Birthday Drew!!!

When I talked to him on the phone the other day he sounded exactly like my dad, so I guess he's getting pretty old.  Drew is ALSO the newest member of the Walt Whitman High School varsity baseball team!  Woo!  Drew you're on the right track, I'm very proud of you!

In other news, I leave for Arizona in a week!  Can't wait for warm weather and cacti.

Big News!

Dickinson Softball was ranked by coaches as the #1 team in the conference this season.  We were closely followed by Gettysburg in 2nd and Ursinus in 3rd.  Although this is great, we have to prove that we deserved this #1 spot and that means playing even better than last year.

Game 1: Randolph-Macon

The Red Devils went up against the Yellow Jackets this Sunday, and although we didn't prevail, we went away feeling good about the coming season.

Game Recap:
Game 1-
The game was 0-0 until the very end, I don't remember exactly how it went, but Randolph-Macon (RM) won 2-1 in extra innings.  I played left field, only one ball was hit to me, which I caught.  I got up to bat twice, I struck out and then bunted to advance the runner.
Game 2-
Again, the game was close, but RM pulled ahead to 3-0 early on.  It wasn't until the final innings that we came back, scoring 3 runs and tying it up to go into extra innings.  We lost 5-4.  I didn't play in this game but I warmed up one of our pitchers and warmed up our right fielder so I felt like a good teammate.

From what I hear, we usually lose to RM by a lot more.  They're a very good hitting team and they had already played 4 regular season games before us.  This was also our first time playing on dirt.  With these things in mind,  our showing on Sunday was really good.  The coaches and players felt good about how we played.  I really am honored to be on this team and I am so impressed with how good we are (modest, I know).
